KUCCPS places students on merit, and it works out your cluster points for you in the KUCCPS portal, so you do not need to calculate them by hand. Placement is based on your applicant priorities and your KCSE performance, and it depends on the places each institution has available.

How does KUCCPS calculate cluster points?
KUCCPS says cluster points are computed automatically and shown in your KUCCPS portal. It advises students not to calculate them manually, because the results may be incorrect. Individual students do not receive the performance indices they need, so they cannot work out their weighted cluster points alone.
Source: The Kenya Times, 2026
The Kenya Times reports a formula with a maximum cluster points value of 48 and a maximum overall KCSE aggregate of 84. The formula itself appears as an image in the article, and third-party guides give conflicting versions. We could not confirm it on an official KUCCPS page, so treat the formula as unconfirmed. We also found no official KUCCPS cluster points calculator or PDF on the pages we checked.

What are the new degree cut-off points for KUCCPS?
A cut-off point is the cluster weight of the last applicant admitted to a programme. KUCCPS says cut-off points are only fixed after placement. People Daily reports that the 2025 cut-off points for degree programmes were not yet available, because placement must happen first.
Source: People Daily, 2026
KUCCPS advised applicants to use the 2024 cut-off points on the portal as a guide. The programme list documents on the Student's Portal also show previous cut-off points, according to the Kenya Times guide.

How to check your cluster points and KUCCPS choices
The 2026 windows have closed, so use these steps to check your portal and to see how the process works. If you are new to the student logins and portals, our KNEC portals explained guide is a useful read first.
- Go to students.kuccps.net and log in with your KCSE index number and KCSE year. The official KUCCPS homepage links to the portal, but we could not confirm this exact address for 2026, so start from kuccps.net if the link fails.
- Read your weighted cluster points in your portal. KUCCPS computes them automatically, so do not calculate them by hand.
- Keep the payment reference number from your M-Pesa payment message, because you need it for later revisions. Enter the account number from that message, not the M-Pesa confirmation code.
- Choose your degree programmes. The 2024 Kenya Times guide allows up to six choices for applicants with C+ and above, and the first three must be similar programmes. The 2026 number is unconfirmed, so check the official site.
- Edit your choices as often as you like before the deadline. You do not pay the application fee again when you revise.
- Once you have a provisional placement, you cannot make any changes. Wait for the official placement results.
- Open the programme list document on the portal to see programme codes and previous cut-off points.
